Die Leere zeigt sich nur dem Menschen, der weiß, über die Grenzen seiner Möglichkeiten hinauszugehen. Doch will es nicht positiv klingen, sondern nur meinen, dass das Eingeständnis nicht alles zu können, mehr dem Sein entspricht als dem Nichts.

Lena Mayers Fotoserie "Nichts(ein)" nimmt uns auf eine Reise mit. Es ist eine Reise, die sich nicht in die Ferne wagt, sondern sich einen Weg ins Innere bahnt. Es ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Frage nach dem Anspruch an sich Selbst und den Zwängen der äußeren Umstände. Es geht um den zerstörerischen Moment der Selbstvergessenheit und um die Gewaltförmigkeit des Unumgänglichen. Findet sich das Subjekt im Nichts wieder, mag es das Gefühl haben, zu verschwinden, doch muss es antworten und in eine neue Geborgenheit flüchten. Es ist der Umgang, den es sucht. Und das Fotoprojekt "Nichts(ein)" ist der Versuch.

Emptiness reveals itself only to a person that is able to exceed their own limitations. This is not meant to sound positive, but to state, that admitting to not being capable of doing everything, corresponds to being rather than nothingness.

Lena Mayers photography series „Nichts(ein)“ (engl. „Being nothing(ness)“) takes us on a journey, that doesn’t seek the distance, but blazes the trail to the inner self. It deals with self-imposed standards and the constraint the outside world poses. It is about the destructive moment of absent-mindedness and about the forceful violence of the inevitable. When the subject finds itself in nothingness, it may feel like it is disappearing, but it is obligated to respond and escape into a new feeling of comfort and security. It searches for the means. “Being nothing(ness)” is one attempt.
