Die Nesselsucht (Urtikaria) ist eine krankhafte Reaktion der Haut auf Nahrungsmittel oder Medikamente (Allergien), auf Einwirkungen von Wärme oder Kälte, Licht, Druck oder Wasser, auf immunologische Phänomene oder auch auf psychischen Stress. Kennzeichen sind Quaddeln oder Erytheme. Die akute Urtikaria besteht − im Gegensatz zur chronischen Verlaufsform − nicht länger als sechs Wochen. Oft kann ein Auslöser nicht bestimmt werden.

Urticaria/ nettle rash. Nettle rash (urticaria) is a morbid reaction of the skin to food or medication (allergies), to exposure to heat, cold, light, pressure or water, to immunologic phenomena or to psychic stress. Indicators can be welts or erythemas. Acute urticaria lasts – in contrast to its chronic form – no longer than six weeks. Often it can not be determined what induced the disease.
