Und da warst du nun und blicktest aus dem Fenster "Mal wieder flüchten", dachtest du dir. Ein jähes Ende fand die Idee und da stehst du nun, naiv und töricht und gehst zu Grunde und weißt nicht wieso.

Melinda Matern setzt sich in ihrer Fotoserie "...to bury one´s head in..." mit der Offensichtlichkeit einer Ohnmacht auseinander, die keiner spüren will. Ein Wagnis, das im Versuch die eigene Grenze findet und dabei auf die Enge verweist, welche erklärt, dass auch das Schöne nur einer Verwertung folgt. Die Aufnahmen thematisieren dabei Vergeblichkeit, doch niemals Resignation. Fotografiert wurde die Serie in Berlin mit einer Holga - Mittelformatkamera.

And there you were now, looking out of the window. „To once again escape“, you thought to yourself. The idea came to an abrupt end and there you stand, naive and foolish. Perishing and not even knowing why.

In her photo series „...to bury one´s head in...“ Melinda Matern deals with the obviousness of a powerlessness that no one wants to feel. It is a venture, that finds its own boundaries in the attempt itself. Thereby it points to the narrowness that illustrates, that even beauty is just subject to valorisation. The photographies address futility, yet never resignation. The series was photographed in Berlin with a Holga medium format camera.
